Removal of Nitrate Ions Using Thermally and Chemically Modified Bioadsorbents

چکیده

Nitrate ions are one of the causes surface water eutrophication. In present research, effective adsorption nitrate (NO3) on bioadsorbents prepared from yam skins (Dioscorea alata) was evaluated. The skin chemically modified with ammonium chloride (NH4Cl), and biochar thermally biomass. results were compared commercial coal (CC). characterized by SEM-EDS analysis, which showed that synthesized adsorbents have a heterogeneous pores. batch tests pH has most significant effect NO3 capacity when using (MYP), obtaining as best conditions 12 0.5 mm particle size an 25.75 mg/g; carbon (CYP) CC obtained at 2, reaching values 36 33.34 mg/g, respectively. following performance in terms found: CYP > MYP, according to Langmuir’s model. equilibrium isotherm MYP adjusted Freundlich model, while Langmuir model described CC. kinetics all systems studied good fit pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order Elovich models R2 0.95, suggesting mechanism chemical means species exchange between aqueous phase material, intervention intraparticle diffusion stage; based these findings, biomasses reached promising capacities removal anions, showing had remarkable behavior comparison NH4Cl-modified skins.

Nitrate Removal from Aqueous Solution by Using Modified Clinoptilolite Zeolite

Background & Aims of the Study:  Nitrate is one of the most important pollutants that its reduced form, nitrite, can cause serious problems for human health and environment. Adsorption with cheap sorbents such as Zeolite is the best way for removal of this pollutant. So this study aimed to apply modified Clinoptilolite Zeolite for nitrate removal. Materials & Methods...

Removal of Phosphorus Using Chemically Modified Lignocellulosic Materials

Heavy metals from an acid mine drainage (AMD) site were precipitated on the surface of juniper fiber. The modified fiber was tested in labscaled batch and column tests and in the field. Elemental analysis showed that soluble iron species deposited on the fiber act as an inorganic adsorbent for anions. Sorption capacity, determined by fitting results to a Langmuir isotherm model, was 2.18 mg/g o...

A comparative study of malachite green removal from an aqueous solution using raw and chemically modified expanded perlite

Adsorption of malachite green (MG) from an aqueous solution onto unexpanded perlite (UP), expanded perlite (EP) and NaOH-modified unexpanded perlite (NaOH-UP) powders has been investigated. The effects of contact time, pH, initial dye concentration, adsorbent dosage and temperature have been evaluated. The adsorbents were characterized by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis, Fourier transform...
